Poop

Everyone is jumping into the chicken craze head first to get the natural fresh cage free eggs. Sounds good doesn't it, will I really wanted to get chickens and my husband kept saying no, and not just no but Hell NO!! It wasn't until I ​started babysitting chickens, that owning my own chickens got real for me very fast. The first set of chickens I'm Babysitting is 12 Hens, really friendly and they lay from 10 to 12 eggs a day that's a lot of eggs. So when the Chicken Lady bought the chickens, she bought all there food too she spent $120.00 on chicken food, they eat a lot !! 

It was overwhelming as you can see these chickens came with lots of food and stuff, waters, feeders, shaving a coop and a pen. The breed is Isa Brown they are very nice chickens, as far as chickens go. Cleaning the coop, there's nothing like it. Chicken POOP it's so gross. I would clean a horse stall any day and not think twice about it but chicken POOP, you can barely force yourself to clean that! Then my friend went on vacation for a couple weeks, and guess what, she has 23 hens, they are huge chickens. These hens are to much, they make very large poop. I feed them in the morning and at night but at night, it's more like a bribe. I call them in by saying, Ladies come on lets got to bed, some come running and some have to be herded, it's like herding cats. Then there's the Barbs a breed of chicken she has that are hoodlums. At first there was 4 that wouldn't go in, Its a hoodlum gang of chickens and no way are they going in the pen. One night I got all of them in the pen and the next morning 8 of the Barbs had flown out, so now its spreading among the Barb Hoodlum gang. They strut around like there Shit don't stink I got news for them It stinks. If the Barb gang gets any bigger there will be all 16 barbs out running the streets like Chickens in the hood. So it's a no brainier that getting chickens, is out and to put this into perspective the chicken lady could have gone to Natural grocers and bought 60 dozen eggs @1.99 for that $120.00 and not cleaned poop off of any eggs or a coop and that's what I'm going to do or spend $3.00 a dozen at a local farm !!! The End of the my chickens in the hood !
