The Skunk wore tennis shoes is the title of my next book illustrations are being done now. Its a cute short story about a little girl by the name of Piper. Her adventures are fun and a learning experience all at the same time. So here's a snippet to read for now. As she walked along, she saw tiny shoe prints in the dirt path. What's that, she wondered? Who do they belong to? I want to catch up with them so I can meet them. It looks like whoever it is might be skipping along. I want to skip with them too, she thought to herself. Now it looks like paw prints, I don't understand why, the prints go from tiny shoe to paws. Now they go into that whole in the tree. "Who's in there? Please come out," said Piper. Piper was thinking that it was oh so quiet right now. She noticed that she didn't even hear birds singing, woodpeckers pecking, dogs barking, cats meowing, chickens clucking or cows mooing or anything! About then a little nose poked out of the hole in the tree. "I see your nose, can you come out and play with me?" Asked Piper. About then out came a skunk. Piper Screamed and jumped back and thought, this is why its so quiet! "don't be afraid, I won't hurt you, I've never hurt anyone but everyone and everything is afraid of me. All I want to do is have a friend and someone to play with, "said the Skunk. "I'm sorry I acted so afraid; I shouldn't have judged you by what you look like, it's whats inside that counts. Those are really nice little white tennis shoes you have there, they are so tiny and really cute they look like mine, only really little. Could you teach me how to skip like you were doing when I was following Your footstep's?" said Piper. "Yes , let me just put my shoes back on, I took them off because I didn't want them to get dirty. Said the Skunk. "I forgot to ask you your name," said Piper. "Monk, Monk the Skunk, that wears tennis shoes," said the Skunk. "My name is Piper and I would like to be your friend," said Piper. "So lets go down the path and we can skip along together," said Piper "OK," said Monk the Skunk. so off they go laughing, leaping, and jumping in the air and finally they start skipping, it took more time to learn because, Monk was new at it himself.
